- WATERFALLS.
There are lots of waterfalls in Eldoret with amazing features some are known and some are yet to be known.
The waterfalls include:
- Koromosho falls
The beautiful Koromosho Falls on River Sosiani in Uasin Gishu County.
It is situated about 20 kilometres to the west of Eldoret, where River Sosiani plunges 70 metres from the flat fertile plateau over a granite escarpment.
The sound of the water is the only feature that portrays the falls, hidden in a mass of rocks and trees.
From the high rocks downstream, one can see a big cave behind the falling waters where residents say some animals live.
The winding V-shaped valley cut by the Sosiani adds to the beauty of the scene.
From the river bed, the valley rises on both sides some metres and ends only some kilometres downstream after Ndalat Hills near Kapkaren.
Upstream, Ken Gen has built a dam to trap the river and divert it through a canal to turbines which generate electricity whenever the water overflows during the rains.
- Chepkiit waterfalls.
Also known as mlango waterfalls, this waterfall is located a few kilometres from Eldoret international airport. It is on the right-hand side of the road from the airport. From the airport, go a short distance, turn right onto a dusty road and drive for a short distance. After that, it is ideal to leave your car packed somewhere safe and walk towards the falls. The most ideal time to tour the falls is during The morning. This is because you will be lucky to experience the most captivating rainbow formed by the morning sun that is as a result of the water droplets of the falls. The falls offer a very serene and peaceful environment that is suitable for nature lovers and picnics. There are different variety of birds to see at the falls. The falls have indigenous trees, and there is a very beautiful gouge that is located in the basement. There are huge rocks that sandwich the gouge which is artistically arranged to make them blend in perfectly.
- There are many more waterfalls the list is endless, in Eldoret i.e, kapkong waterfalls, kapsurur waterfalls, kolol waterfalls, e.t.c.
